The short answer
As of Oct 19, 2026, NYC has 2,748 daycare centers on the city's active list. Over 3 years of Health Department inspections, 583 have at least one supervision or staffing violation (Health Code 47.23, which covers supervision, staff ratios and group size), 353 have a safe-sleep violation and 310 have no violations at all.
